KIK
Born in Nancy in 1993, Steven Jarny first became known under the name Kikesa before adopting the name KIK, while remaining associated with this initial identity in French rap. His career began within MTB Crew, a collective formed in Nancy, before a solo stint starting in the mid-2010s. His music sits within francophone rap nourished by trap, melodic choruses and straightforward writing, often traversed by a light surface tone but also by more personal themes. Kikesa gains a more visible presence in 2018 with the weekly format Dimanche de hippie, a series of tracks and videos published on YouTube, which would later give rise to the mixtapes Dimanche de hippie, Dimanche de hippie volume 2 and Dimanche de hippie volume 3, all released in 2018. This exposure accompanies rising stage presence and leads him to his first album, PUZZLE, released in 2019. In 2022, Kikesa releases Rubi, an album built around a fictional character, with collaborations with Soprano and Bigflo & Oli. In 2023 Adieu appears, released as he begins his name change to KIK. Between freestyle energy, introspective tracks and storytelling sense, Kikesa has developed an accessible rap format, rooted in his era and linked as much to the web universe as to the live concert world.
