Yves Deruyter
Born in Antwerp in 1970, Yves Deruyter established himself in the Belgian club circuit from the mid-1980s before moving into production in the early 1990s, at a time when rave, techno and the first forms of trance were gaining momentum across Europe. Associated with the Bonzai Records label, he developed a direct, energetic sound at the intersection of techno, hard trance and melodic club-oriented trance, with tracks such as “Animals” (1992), “Rave City” (1993), “Calling Earth” (1994) and “The Rebel” (1997). His trajectory quickly took him from clubs like Cherry Moon and La Rocca to major electronic stages and European festivals such as Mayday, Love Parade, Mystery Land, Sensation Black and Tomorrowland. On the long-form front he released albums including Calling Earth (1998), D-Album (1999) and Feel Free (2001), which continued that tense, rhythmic and upfront rave aesthetic. More recently he has kept active with new releases, notably the EP Rave Cloud/Mind Attack made with The Subs in 2021.
