Yung Bae

Born in 1994 as Dallas Cotton, Yung Bae has developed from Portland, Oregon an electronic approach positioned between future funk and vaporwave, nourished by disco, funk and 1980s Japanese city pop. Active since 2014, he first circulated in online scenes with the Bae series and releases such as Bae (2014), BAE 2, BA3, Skyscraper Anonymous and Bae: Side B (2016), followed by B4E (2017) and Bae 5 (2019). Later based in Los Angeles, Yung Bae gradually broadened his format toward more vocal and pop-oriented tracks while maintaining a focus on supple grooves, reworked loops and a pronounced retro aesthetic. This evolution also involved collaborations with artists like Brasstracks, Channel Tres, Jon Batiste and Nile Rodgers. With Groove Continental: Side A (2022), Groove Continental: Side B (2023) and BAE 6 (2024), Yung Bae continues this shift toward a more direct electronic funk, still tied to club culture and the legacy of sampling. On stage, Yung Bae has performed in North America, in Asia and at festivals such as Coachella.
