Yellow Days

Hailing from Haslemere in Surrey, England, Yellow Days, the moniker of George van den Broek, has since the mid-2010s been developing a project where soul, psychedelic R&B, and indie rock intersect within a lo-fi, melancholy-tinged aesthetic. First brought to wider attention by self-released tracks posted online, Yellow Days drew notice with the 2016 EP Harmless Melodies and the song Gap in the Clouds, which established his husky voice and harmonies indebted to the rhythm and blues of the 1960s and 1970s. His debut full-length, Is Everything Okay in Your World?, arrived in 2017 and cemented a songwriting focus on moods, relationships, and the confusion of prolonged adolescence, before 2020’s A Day in a Yellow Beat broadened the palette with more expansive arrangements and more pronounced rhythms. With 2023’s Inner Peace, Yellow Days continues to explore this hybrid sound, recorded between home-studio work and full-band sessions, and performs across the UK and internationally with a live lineup that accentuates the soulful and improvisational dimension of his compositions.
