Wolves At The Gate
Formed in Cedarville, Ohio, Wolves At The Gate has, since 2008, developed a sound situated between metalcore, post-hardcore, and Christian metal, with a marked balance between massive riffs, clean vocals, abrasive vocals, and melodic choruses. The band first gained recognition with the early Prisoner of War releases in 2009, followed by We Are the Ones, before signing with Solid State Records, which has supported most of its discography. Wolves At The Gate then refined a tense yet readable writing style on Captors (2012), VxV (2014), Types & Shadows (2016), Eclipse (2019), and Eulogies (2022), alternating front-facing tracks, atmospheric passages and acoustic textures, as on the EPs Reprise (2015) and Dawn (2020). The lineup has undergone several changes over the years, around a core led notably by Steve Cobucci and Ben Summers, with Nick Detty joining on vocals in 2012 and then Joey Alarcon on guitar in 2019. Embedded in the American heavy scene, Wolves At The Gate blends hardcore intensity, melodic construction and spiritual themes without reducing its music to a single register, as shown by the 2023 cover album Lost in Translation.
