Yasmin

Born in Ashington, Northumberland, to an Iranian father and an English mother, Yasmin grew up in the north of England — Manchester and then Scotland — before settling in London, where she initially developed a career as a DJ. Her work sits at the crossroads of R&B, electronic music and a pop sound with dark textures, with a strong taste for club rhythms and stripped-down productions. Yasmin came to prominence in 2010 after writing and singing the hook on Devlin's 'Runaway', then followed with her first solo singles, 'On My Own' and 'Finish Line' in 2011, the latter produced by Labrinth. In 2012, 'Light Up (The World)', with Shy FX and Ms Dynamite, extended this vein between urban pop and British electronic music. At the same time Yasmin performed on stages linked to British pop and rap, notably opening for Example and later for Ellie Goulding. Her career later shifted further into house and dance spheres, with collaborations like 'Real' with Gorgon City, released on the album Sirens in 2014, as well as tracks with Krystal Klear, Sonny Fodera, Preditah and Infinity Ink. Between songwriting, vocals and DJ sets, Yasmin has built a path that links the song format and club culture.
