Wareika

Formed in Hamburg in 2008, Wareika brings together Henrik Raabe, Florian Schirmacher and Jakob Seidensticker in a live electronic music format where programmed rhythms, synthesizers, vocals and guitar intersect. The project took shape after Schirmacher met Raabe and Seidensticker, who had previously been active together as Havana Boys, and it developed within club and electronic scenes with a collective approach closer to a band than a simple DJ set. Wareika’s trajectory was built around a series of singles and EPs from 2008, followed by several albums released in quick succession: Harmonie Park and Formation in 2010, Rumba Swing Remixes in 2011, and Wternal in 2013. Their discography also includes shared or associated releases with Matthias Meyer, Mr Raoul K and Derek Kamm. In parallel, Florian Schirmacher collaborated with Guido Schneider in Glowing Glisses and with Marc Bammann in Federleicht, which helps situate Wareika as a studio-and-stage trio rooted in German electronic music of the 2000s and 2010s.
