Cesar Merveille
Born in Paris in 1981 and based in Berlin after a lengthy spell in London, Cesar Merveille creates electronic music at the intersection of house, deep house, tech house and an understated form of techno, often marked by a taste for minimal textures and patiently built structures. Trained early on in guitar and influenced by jazz, Cesar Merveille began producing in Paris before releasing his first track, “Transit”, in 2003 on Circus Company under the name Kean & 16. In London he became involved in the local scene with residencies for Lo*Kee nights and at T‑Bar, then tightened his focus on music at the end of the 2000s. His path became clearer through Cadenza, notably with the maxi singles “Descarga” in 2009 and “Split” in 2010, both made with Pablo Cahn‑Speyer, and later with “Maayancholy” in 2012. Based in Berlin from 2011, Cesar Merveille also worked as a duo with Ryan Crosson within the project Merveille & Crosson on Visionquest. In 2016 Cesar Merveille founded the vinyl label Roche Madame, where he also releases as C.S.R., extending a precise, pared‑back and detail‑oriented aesthetic frequently heard in clubs such as Fabric, Watergate and Panorama Bar.
