Two Friends
Formed in Los Angeles in 2011 by Eli Sones and Matthew Halper, Two Friends emerged from the friendship of two Brentwood School classmates. They started with hip‑hop productions before turning to a melodic electronic sound that sits between dance‑pop, progressive house and mashup. In the early 2010s the duo released several remixes, and one of their early tracks gained wide exposure when their version of Lana Del Rey’s “Born to Die” entered rotation on SiriusXM BPM in 2014. They followed with singles such as “Forever” and “Overdose” in 2016, and shaped their discography with the EPs You (Me) in 2013, Out of Love in 2017 — which includes “Pacific Coast Highway” and “Out of Love” — and Useless in 2021. Alongside their original material, Two Friends developed the Big Bootie Mixes series, long medleys of pop, rap and electronic hits that became central to their live shows. Two Friends mainly operate on the North American circuit, touring clubs, festivals and arenas, with an appearance at Coachella in 2023 and a residency in Las Vegas the same year. Their recent releases continue this pop‑EDM formula through collaborations with Bryce Vine, Russell Dickerson, Loud Luxury, Bebe Rexha and Quinn XCII.
