Triptik

Formed in Paris in the late 1990s around Dabaaz, Drixxxé and Greg Frite, Triptik is part of the independent French rap scene at the turn of the 2000s. The trio develops a writing style rooted in everyday life, urban movement and Parisian imagery, with a tone that blends social observation, humour, street references and a taste for offbeat images. Musically, Triptik starts from classic hip‑hop nourished by boom bap and funk, then progressively broadens its palette toward more flexible textures and more electronic hues, without leaving the rap framework. Triptik was first noticed in underground circuits—through local scenes, maxi singles, compilations and work carried out outside mainstream channels—before establishing its trajectory with several projects in the early 2000s. This evolution accompanies a period when part of Parisian rap was seeking freer forms, between a sense of collectivity, neighbourhood identity and a taste for experimentation. Triptik thus remains linked to a specific phase of French rap, marked by the autonomy of groups, circulation between independent scenes and a constant attention to writing style.
