Rocé
Rocé is a French rapper, the son of an Algerian mother and an Argentine father of Russian origin, who grew up in the suburb of Thiais. José Kaminsky, known as Rocé, started making music very young, developing a passion for jazz and discovering hip‑hop at the age of twelve. A modern poet with polished lyrics, Rocé carved out his own path among rap figures, releasing his first maxi single in 1996. Five years later he issued his first album, «Top départ», a title that signalled the start of a major musical journey of albums and concerts. In 2006 the half‑jazz, half‑rapper poet returned with «Identité crescendo», featuring artists such as the famed American saxophonist Archie Shepp and the pianist Gonzales. At a pace of roughly one album every four to five years, Rocé released his third album in 2010, «L’être humain et le réverbère», and later came back with «Gunz n’Rocé» in 2013. That record again took the singular, hard‑to‑classify singer on tour across France, including the Bataclan and Radio Nova’s Nuits Zébrées.
