Tippa-T

Born in Turku, Finland, Topi Huovinen has since the early 2010s been developing a rap project first identified under the name Tippa-T, then simply Tippa, navigating between Finnish hip-hop, trap, pop and touches of grunge. He drew attention from around 2013 thanks to tracks and videos online, before signing with PME Records and Warner Music Finland in 2014. This first phase is marked by the EP Nuari Kukko released in 2014, followed by the album White in 2015, where his writing sits in frontal rap, often traversed by melodic choruses and a flexible vocal approach. Tippa then evolves his music toward more hybrid formats, retaining a footing in rap while integrating more sung textures and a more introspective tone. His career also includes other aliases, among them Nuari Kukko, Kikkomane and Tippa Da Stoneman, reflecting different facets of his universe. In 2019, Tippa releases the album Matias, which prolongs this stylistic evolution. Present on the festival and club stages in Finland, Tippa occupies a singular place in Finnish rap of the 2010s and 2020s, at the crossroads of direct expression, supple productions and an urban aesthetic open to other registers.
