The Roughneck Riot
Trained in Warrington, in the northwest of England, The Roughneck Riot sits at the crossroads of punk rock, folk punk and Celtic punk, with a sound that blends fast guitars, a direct rhythm section and a pronounced use of violin, mandolin and accordion. The band built its name on the British indie scene by touring the UK and continental Europe, in punk, DIY and alternative circuits where its militant and anti-fascist stance is part of its identity. The Roughneck Riot develops an energetic repertoire, nourished by English punk as well as by traditional Irish folk and rock music, not limited to a strictly revivalist approach. Its discography includes A Weapon Called Folk (2010), This Is Our Day (2014) and Out of Anger (2022), which marks the band's return after a period of pause, recording and interruption related to the pandemic years. Over the course of its journey, The Roughneck Riot has consolidated a unique place in the British folk-punk landscape by maintaining a collective, engaged and stage-oriented approach.
