Titi Robin
Born in Rochefort in 1957 as Thierry Robin, Titi Robin has, since the early 1980s, built a career rooted in acoustic music at the crossroads of Gypsy, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Indian traditions. A guitarist and player of the bouzouki and oud, he composes music based on modes, melodic ornamentation and rhythmic work, with a marked preference for exchanges between popular repertoires rather than for spectacular genre fusion. His universe sets flamenco phrasing, North African motifs, Near Eastern forms and Romani heritage in dialogue, in formats ranging from solo to collective ensembles. Active on French and international world‑music stages, Titi Robin has also led several creative projects with artists from these traditions, notably with Kalbeliya dancer and singer Gulabi Sapera. His output is sustained over time, characterized by constant attention to orality, improvisation and the links between personal composition and cultural transmission.
