The Hooten Hallers

Formed in Columbia, Missouri, in 2007, The Hooten Hallers initially centered around guitarist and singer John Randall and drummer Andy Rehm, before taking its current trio form with the 2014 arrival of Kellie Everett on baritone saxophone and bass. The band develops a sound at the crossroads of blues rock, rock 'n' roll and American roots music, with straightforward songwriting, crisp rhythms, and a prominent place given to the low saxophone, which gives the whole a rougher color than a traditional rock lineup. After several self-produced records around the early 2000s and 2010s, The Hooten Hallers joined Big Muddy Records and released Greetings From Welp City! in 2012, Chillicothe Fireball in 2014, the Mountain of Pain EP in 2016, then the album The Hooten Hallers in 2017. A live recording, Live in Missouri, appeared in 2018, before returning to the studio with Back in Business Again in 2022 and The Devil’s Egg in 2024. The Hooten Hallers have toured the United States and Europe since the mid-2010s, playing at festivals such as SXSW, Winnipeg Folk Festival or Roots N Blues, in contexts where their blend of raw blues, folk, soul and punk energy naturally finds a place.
