Tekno

Born in Bauchi, Nigeria, in 1992 and hailing from a family from Ebonyi State, Tekno, real name Augustine Miles Kelechi Okechukwu, has established himself in Nigerian pop with a blend of Afrobeats, R&B and hip-hop, fueled by melodic writing and a pronounced sense of rhythm. After beginnings in the early 2010s, he drew attention with 'Holiday' in 2013 and followed with several singles that circulated widely on the West Africa Afropop scenes, notably 'Dance', 'Duro', 'Wash', 'Pana', and 'Skeletun'. Tekno developed a style centered on smooth refrains, danceable productions and a light voice, balancing pop singing, urban inflections and the African club heritage. His career saw him collaborating with several Nigerian and international artists, appearing on Beyoncé's The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack in 2019, and participating as a producer in projects beyond his solo repertoire. After a string of singles widely circulated, Tekno released his first album Old Romance in 2020, followed by The More The Better in 2023. Parallel to his singing career, Tekno remains identified as a songwriter and producer, active in a scene where movement between Afropop, light dancehall and urban pop is part of his musical language.
