The Puppini Sisters

Formed in London in 2004 around Marcella Puppini, a singer born in Bologna, The Puppini Sisters revived the art of close-harmony in a vocal trio format drawing on swing, vocal jazz, retro cabaret and pop reinterpretations. The original lineup—Marcella Puppini, Kate Mullins and Stephanie O’Brien—featured a repertoire that mixed American standards, musical theatre numbers and adaptations of more contemporary songs. Developed on London’s early-2000s scene, The Puppini Sisters built their identity on tight harmonies, arrangements evoking the 1940s and a vintage visual aesthetic that complements their music without defining it entirely. Their discography includes Betcha Bottom Dollar (2006), The Rise and Fall of Ruby Woo (2007), Christmas with The Puppini Sisters (2010), Hollywood (2011), The High Life (2016) and Dance, Dance, Dance (2020). Through lineup changes the group has maintained a blend of swing-infused covers and original compositions, with excursions into repertoires from Blondie to Kate Bush and The Smiths, a collaboration with Michael Bublé and a steady presence on concert stages, jazz festivals and retro-music events.
