Talla 2XLC
Born in Frankfurt am Main in 1963, Andreas Tomalla, known as Talla 2XLC, has built a career closely tied to the history of German electronic music. Active from the early 1980s, he worked at the City-Music shop near Frankfurt station, where he shelved some electronic records under the label “techno” before launching the Technoclub night in 1984—a lasting hub for the local and later international scene. Talla 2XLC’s early projects, such as Axodry, Moskwa TV and Bigod 20, covered a range from EBM to electropop and industrial, before he moved more decisively toward trance and melodic techno. A resident at Dorian Gray until the club closed in 2000, he subsequently relaunched his international DJ career while developing the Techno Club compilation series and a catalogue of productions and remixes through collaborations with Taucher, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Sean Tyas, Robert Burian and Sarah Russell. His albums include TALLA 2XLC (1997) and Tranceology (2005). Under the alias Zyrus 7 he also explored a more psychedelic side of trance.
