Tall Paul
Under the name Tall Paul, Paul Newman has developed since the late 1980s a career rooted in the English club scene, ranging from vocal house and hard house to club-focused dancefloor house. An English DJ, producer and remixer born in 1971, Tall Paul began mixing at a very young age at Turnmills, a London club connected to his family history, before becoming a resident at the Gardening Club, Brighton’s Zap Club and Trade in London — three important venues in Britain’s house and underground scenes of the 1990s. His work as a producer gained momentum with tracks released as Tall Paul, notably “Rock da House,” and under the alias Camisra in the late 1990s with “Let Me Show You,” “Feel the Beat” and “Clap Your Hands,” in a more direct house vein designed for the club while retaining strong pop accessibility. Tall Paul also produced several remixes that circulated in house and crossover circuits, including versions of tracks by INXS, The Original, Liquid, The Stone Roses and Mary Kiani. In 2001 Mixed Live Tall Paul was released, the only album clearly documented in his discography. He has since continued DJing on British and international stages, notably in Ibiza, the United States and Brazil.
