The Lords Of Altamont

Formed in Los Angeles in the late 1990s around singer and organist Jake Cavaliere, who came from the surf‑garage outfit The Bomboras, The Lords Of Altamont are rooted in a local rock’n’roll scene shaped by garage, punk and biker aesthetics. The name The Lords Of Altamont explicitly evokes the imagery of the Altamont festival and a motorcycle culture that runs through the group’s iconography. Musically, The Lords Of Altamont deliver a foreground garage rock fed by sixties punk, proto‑hard rock and psychedelia, driven by a prominent organ, abrasive riffs and incisive vocals, in a vein close to the Detroit sound and garage‑revival bands. The debut album “To Hell With The Lords” appeared in 2002, followed by releases including “Lords Have Mercy” (2005), “The Altamont Sin” (2008), “Midnight to 666” (2011), “The Lords Take Altamont” (2014), “The Wild Sounds of The Lords of Altamont” (2017) and “Tune In, Turn On, Electrify!” (2021), marking a trajectory with numerous line‑up changes but a stable musical direction. Active on club stages and festivals oriented toward garage and psychedelic rock, mainly between the United States and Europe, The Lords Of Altamont have established through touring a tight, energetic sound that draws directly on the raw rock codes of the 1960s and 1970s.
