SNAP!

Formed in Frankfurt in 1989 around producers Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti, SNAP! initially occupied the crossroads of house, hip-house and pop dance, with a studio identity carried by multiple vocalists and rappers rather than a fixed lineup. The project took shape after the two producers' experiences in OFF and 16 Bit, and broke through in the early 1990s with tracks like 'The Power', sung by Penny Ford with rap by Turbo B, and 'Ooops Up', which established SNAP!'s signature blend of soulful choruses, club rhythms and rap phrasing. With The Madman’s Return in 1992, SNAP! refined a more eurodance-oriented songwriting, marked by 'Rhythm Is a Dancer', 'Colour of Love', 'Exterminate!' and contributions from Thea Austin and later Niki Haris. On Welcome to Tomorrow (1994), SNAP! moved toward a more progressive house sound, with Summer as the lead vocalist. After splitting in 1996, SNAP! resumed activity from 2000 onward with new singles, remixes and reworkings of its repertoire, while continuing to perform in different stage incarnations, at times featuring Penny Ford, Turbo B or other performers linked to the project's history.
