Tagada Jones
Born in the early 1990s in Rennes in western France, the punk band Tagada Jones continues the legacy of the local alternative scene with a sound that sits between French-language hardcore punk, metal and industrial influences. Formed around singer-guitarist Niko, the group organized as a quartet and gradually made a name for itself on independent venue and squat circuits before joining rock and metal festival line-ups in France and across Europe. After several demos, their first studio album, «Plus de bruit» (1998), established the foundations of a direct, fast style, continued by «Virus» (2000) and «Manipulé» (2003), which emphasized crossover elements and politically engaged lyrics. «L’Envers du décor» (2006) and «Les Compteurs à zéro» (2008) confirmed a songwriting focus on social and political themes, driven by chanted choruses and metallic riffs. The subsequent period — with «Descente aux enfers» (2011), «Dissident» (2014), «La peste et le choléra» (2017) and «À feu et à sang» (2020) — extended this aesthetic by combining hardcore energy, metal structures and nods to industrial rock, while maintaining French-language lyrics that address contemporary tensions and critiques of power, firmly establishing Tagada Jones within the francophone punk scene.
