Schlachthofbronx

Formed in Munich in 2008 in the Schlachthof district, Schlachthofbronx now comprises Benedikt Wiessmeier and Jakob Döring, after initially starting as a trio with Christoph Brandner. The project developed around an electronic music approach open to global circulation, where dancehall, dubstep, techno, reggae, baile funk, kuduro, footwork and occasional references to Bavarian popular music intersect. This hybrid approach appears on the debut album Schlachthofbronx (2009) and was refined on Dirty Dancing (2012), Rave and Romance (2014) and Haul & Pull Up (2017). Schlachthofbronx has also released several EPs on labels associated with international club scenes, notably Nasty Bass EP and Chambacu (Remixes) EP in 2011 on Mad Decent. The duo toured early on between clubs and festivals in Europe and beyond, performing at SXSW, Sónar, Roskilde, Melt and Dour, and accompanied M.I.A. on her European tour in 2010. In parallel with their own releases, Schlachthofbronx works in production and remixing, with collaborations including M.I.A., Major Lazer, Snoop Dogg and Spoek Mathambo. From Munich, Schlachthofbronx remains linked to a soundsystem culture and to a transnational reading of club music.
