Stanton Warriors
Formed in Bristol around Dominic Butler and Mark Yardley, Stanton Warriors established themselves at the cusp of the 1990s and 2000s in a register blending breakbeat, UK garage, house and bass music, with a marked fondness for broken rhythms, thick bass and crossovers between British club culture and hip-hop energy. The British duo emerged with early maxis in the late 1990s before gaining visibility with The Stanton Session in 2001, then FabricLive.30 in 2006 and The Stanton Sessions Vol. 3 in 2008. Stanton Warriors simultaneously developed a sustained activity as DJs and remixers, with re-works for Basement Jaxx, The Streets, Gorillaz, Booka Shade and Fatboy Slim, which clearly situate them in the breakbeat and electro scenes of the 2000s. Later installed in London and active on international circuits, Stanton Warriors evolved their sound toward a broader formula, between hard-hitting house, breaks and more prominent vocal lines, as on The Warriors in 2011, Rebel Bass in 2015, Sound of Punks in 2016 and Rise in 2019. Their recent catalog extends this club approach, always centered on rhythmic impact and the crossovers between British bass music and dancefloor formats.
