Sandy B

From New York, Sandy B, whose real name is Sandra Barber, has etched herself into the history of American vocal house at the turn of the 1990s and 2000s. Her music rests on a powerful, direct soul voice, placed over club-oriented house productions, between garage house, dance and deep house. Sandy B emerged in the early 1990s with “Feel Like Singin’” in 1992 on Nervous Records, then continued with “Back Together” in 1994 alongside Urban Soul. Her career took on a new dimension with “Make the World Go Round” in 1996 and “Ain’t No Need to Hide” in 1997, two tracks produced by Deep Dish, which firmly established Sandy B’s name in the international house circuit, with several remixes signed notably by StoneBridge, David Morales or Onionz. Subsequently, Sandy B continued to move between solo projects and collaborations, lending her voice to Karmadelic on “Check It Out” in 2000 and “Nothingness” in 2001, then releasing the album Lose Our Love in 2003. She is also found on productions tied to the New York and American club scenes, such as “Medicine” with Mike Cruz and China Ro or “The Beat Is Inside You” with DJ Exacta in 2004. Sandy B remains associated with a vocal house that is clear, energetic and melodic, designed for the dancefloor without losing the soulful grounding of her interpretation.
