Rotten Sound

Active since 1993 and formed in Vaasa, Finland, Rotten Sound is part of the Nordic grindcore scene with an approach that blends extreme speed, tight riffs inherited from death metal, and a very marked hardcore grounding. Around guitarist Mika Aalto and vocalist Keijo Niinimaa, the band has undergone several lineup changes while maintaining a direct, abrasive and compact line, today carried by Sami Latva on drums and David Kasipovic on bass. After a series of early short formats in the 1990s, Rotten Sound released its albums Under Pressure in 1997 and Drain in 1999, before strengthening its presence on European and North American stages with Murderworks in 2002 and Exit in 2005. The rest of the discography prolongs this work of condensation between grindcore, deathgrind and crust influences on Cycles in 2008, Cursed in 2011, Abuse to Suffer in 2016 and Apocalypse in 2023. Rotten Sound has also produced several EPs, from Still Psycho in 2000 to Species at War in 2013 and Suffer to Abuse in 2018, in a format suited to its brief and tense writing. Present both in clubs and on metal and hardcore festivals, Rotten Sound maintains a dense, upfront and no-nonsense sound, based on short tracks, clear breaks and continuous intensity.
