Shannon Wright

Shannon Wright is an American singer, guitarist and pianist from Jacksonville, Florida. She first came to attention as a member of the indie rock band Crowsdell before launching a solo career in the late 1990s. With her debut Flight Safety, followed by Maps of Tacit and Dyed in the Wool, she established an intense songwriting voice and a world that is at once fragile and abrasive, her haunted vocals cutting through harsh guitars, tormented piano and electric silences. Across records from Over the Sun to Let in the Light, then Honeybee Girls and Secret Blood, her work tightened around dark, deeply embodied songs that sit on the border between indie rock, haunted folk and a minimalist strain of post-rock.
