Ragheb Alama
Born in Ghoubeiry, in the suburbs of Beirut, Ragheb Alama rose to prominence in the 1980s in Arabic music after his notable appearance on the television show Studio El Fan, the starting point of a career built between Arab pop, sentimental ballads, and Middle Eastern variety. A singer and composer, also linked to television, Ragheb Alama develops a repertoire centered on a melodic voice, accessible orchestrations, and a pop format nourished by Arab traditions. His discography, particularly steady since the 1980s, includes Ya Rayt in 1986, Al Hadiya in 1987, Alby Ashe'ha in 1991, Ya Hayati in 1993, Tab Leih in 2002, El Hob el Kebeer in 2004, Baa'sha'ak in 2008, Seneen Rayha in 2010, and Habeeb Dehkati in 2014. Over time, Ragheb Alama alternates romantic titles, higher-tempo pop songs, and occasional collaborations, such as the one recorded with Elissa in 2000. His presence also extends to television, notably as a judge on pan-Arab talent shows such as Arab Idol, The X Factor in the Arabic version, and The Voice: Ahla Sawt, which accompanies enduring visibility on stages and in media across the Arab world.
