Scan X

Under the name Scan X, Stéphane Dri has been developing since the early 1990s a career tied to French techno, first with several maxi releases in 1993 on Fnac Music Dance Division, then within the F Communications catalog from 1994. Based in a techno aesthetic that is at once direct, melodic and futuristic, Scan X works a taut machine sound, often built around sharp loops, dark pads and a club pulsation without overload. This approach takes shape on releases such as Random Access EP, Bleu EP and Intrinsic Mind EP, before the Chroma album in 1996, followed notably by Lost in 1997 and How To Make The Unpredictable Necessary? in 2003. Associated with the rise of the French electronic scene of the 1990s, Scan X also distinguished himself by the emphasis on live performances, in a context where this practice remained still underdeveloped in techno. Over the years, he continued his productions on F Communications and other labels, with tracks and EPs such as Desire in 2005, Magnet in 2006, Prism in 2008, Midnight in 2008, Sensorium in 2013 or Alien Symphony in 2017. Scan X also collaborated with Laurent Garnier within the framework of the LBS project, alongside Benjamin Rippert.
