Plantec

Originating in Brittany around brothers Yannick and Odran Plantec, Plantec has developed since the early 2000s a music that links Breton dance repertoires, rock and electronic textures. Initially active in festoù-noz (traditional Breton night dances) under the name Frères Plantec, the project became a full band in 2003 and quickly established itself on Breton stages and at festivals devoted to Celtic or hybrid music. Plantec’s sound is based on a dialogue between bombardes, guitars, bass and programmed rhythms, with compositions inspired by traditional forms but treated in a more urban, contemporary aesthetic while retaining the connection to dance. This direction is audible on Reverzhi (2004), then on Plantec (2006) and A-raok (2007), before a denser, more rock-oriented turn with Mekanik (2010), mixed by Roli Mosimann. The band continued this evolution on Awen (2012), Kontakt (2015) and Hironaat (2020). Over the years Plantec has circulated between festoù-noz, the Festival interceltique de Lorient, Yaouank and European tours, preserving an identity centered on the meeting of Breton culture, stage energy and contemporary writing.
