Piotr Rogucki

Born in Łódź, Poland in 1978, Piotr Rogucki has since the late 1990s developed a career situated at the crossroads of rock, lyric-driven song and live performance. A singer, songwriter and actor trained at the Kraków Theatre School, he first established himself as the voice of the band Coma, a Łódź-based formation with which he has traversed the Polish rock scene since the 2000s, in a register that blends alternative tension, dark melodies and Polish-language lyrical writing. Alongside the band, Rogucki pursues a more personal solo body of work, where a clearer place is given to sung poetry and more introspective forms, notably Loki - wizja dźwięku (2011), 95-2003 (2012) and J.P. Śliwa (2015). His career also includes several occasional collaborations between rock, pop and collective projects, as well as a duo formed with Kuba Karaś under the name Karaś/Rogucki, active from 2019 and oriented toward a more synthetic writing, between electronic pop, new wave and contemporary chanson, with the album Ostatni Bastion Romantyzmu (2020). Present on stage in festivals, clubs and venues in Poland, Rogucki also pursues an acting career in cinema, television and theatre, which also illuminates his deeply embodied approach to interpretation.
