Pierce Brothers
Behind Pierce Brothers are twins Jack and Patrick Pierce, raised in Melbourne’s independent folk scene where the duo first gained attention playing on the streets, notably Bourke Street. Pierce Brothers develop a sound at the intersection of indie folk, blues roots and taut acoustic pop, driven by two voices, tight choruses and highly rhythmic playing that retains some of their busking character while adapting to venues and festivals. The project grew in the mid‑2010s, initially in Australia and then internationally, with regular tours across Europe and North America and support slots for Tash Sultana. Over successive releases Pierce Brothers have expanded their songwriting toward more pop formats without abandoning their folk base and blues foundations. In 2022 they released, among others, “When It All Goes Away”, co‑written with Garrett Kato, then “How Sweet Is This Love” with Steph Strings, followed by “The Captive”, produced by Jan Skubiszewski.
