Riké

Under the name Riké, Erik Monod first made his mark within Sinsemilia, a group from the Grenoble scene where he was one of the singers, songwriters and composers, working in a register that blends French reggae, pop and chanson. Alongside Sinsemilia’s collective trajectory from the 1990s, Riké developed a more personal path in which songwriting became central and arrangements sometimes move away from reggae toward a more direct, acoustic and melodic chanson. This direction is evident on Air frais (2003) and Vivons! (2007), two solo albums that extend themes already present in his group work while tightening the form around text‑driven songs, clear choruses and a restrained performance. Riké therefore remains associated with a meeting point between French chanson and popular music inspired by reggae, with a career built between stage, writing and collective activity, where he alternates formats without severing the identity forged alongside Sinsemilia.
