Richard Fearless
Under the name Richard Fearless, Richard Maguire has, from the United Kingdom, developed a career at the crossroads of experimental rock, electronic music and psychedelic music. He launched Death in Vegas in the late 1990s, a project with a variable geometry that blends dub textures, techno pulsations, post-punk, ambient and shoegaze heritage in a dark and cinematic approach. Having spent some time in New York before returning to work in his London studio, Richard Fearless has evolved his musical language over the years, moving from club-bound electronic music to slower, more abrasive and immersive forms. He is also the originator of Black Acid and founded the label Drone Records, used notably for Satan’s Circus release in 2004 in the United Kingdom, followed by Transmission in 2016 under the name Death in Vegas. Parallel to this group work, Richard Fearless signs productions and personal projects that extend this tension-driven aesthetics, between repetitive sequences, spectral voices and industrial atmospheres. His trajectory thus links the British electronic scene, the margins of rock and a studio culture centered on sound matter and atmospheres.
