Original Sin

Emerging from Newcastle upon Tyne's drum & bass scene, Original Sin has developed since the early 2000s a sound centered on jump-up, featuring massive basslines, tight, compact rhythms and a British rave heritage audible in the energy of the tracks. As a producer and DJ, Original Sin has refined this aesthetic through releases on labels such as Playaz Recordings and via the G Dub project, evolving his writing between immediate club impact, bouncy techno accents and darker passages. His trajectory later took him to perform regularly outside the UK and to maintain a lasting connection to Toronto's scene before returning to Britain. In both his productions and his sets, Original Sin favours a direct, fast and percussive drum & bass designed for sound systems and large venues, while retaining a degree of flexibility in textures and grooves. His career therefore accompanies the durable establishment of jump-up within the contemporary drum & bass landscape.
