Public Enemy

Public Enemy is an American hip‑hop group made up of Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Professor Griff and his group S1W, DJ Lord, and Khari Wynn. The group formed in 1982 on Long Island. Known for their politically charged lyrics, Public Enemy's music reflects the concerns of the African American community and criticizes the American system. Their debut album was released in 1987 under the title Yo! Bum Rush the Show, marking the start of a long and prolific output. The group finally gained wide recognition in 1988 with the landmark album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. At the same time, individual members were involved in various musical projects but continued to record regularly. In 2012, Public Enemy released not one but two albums: The Evil Empire of Everything and Most of My Heroes still don’t Appear On No Stamp. With these two records the group toured extensively, performing a long series of concerts in 2012–2013, from Las Vegas to the Bataclan in Paris, including the Printemps de Bourges festival.
