Pneu
Born in the mid-2000s on Tours' independent scene, the duo Pneu brings together drummer Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy and guitarist Jérôme Vassereau to play instrumental rock that sits between noise, math rock and a punk/hardcore legacy. Formed in 2006, Pneu quickly made a name for itself on the French DIY circuit and then across Europe through shows often played on the floor, up close to the audience, and through songwriting built on rhythmic ruptures, repetitive riffs and compact structures. The first album “Highway to Health” was released in 2008, followed by “Moider” in 2011 and “Destination Qualité” in 2013, interspersed with splits and numerous singles that anchored Pneu in a network of labels and venues specialized in experimental music. Sustained live activity took the band from French clubs to tours in Europe, the United States and Japan, while also feeding the collective project La Colonie de Vacances and other parallel formations such as Tachycardie and Franky Goes To Pointe-à-Pitre. After a long recording hiatus, Pneu return in 2024 with “Get Old Or Die Tryin’”, an album in which their initial noise‑rock language is densified by a stronger use of extreme rhythms and electronic treatments, without abandoning the direct tension and urgency that have characterised the duo’s aesthetic since the start.
