Neha Kakkar
Born in Rishikesh, in present-day Uttarakhand, and later passing through Delhi before settling in Mumbai, Neha Kakkar established herself in Indian film music from the 2010s onward, after very young beginnings at religious events and a notable appearance on the show Indian Idol in 2005. Her career develops in Bollywood playback, Hindi and Punjabi pop, with a light voice and immediately recognizable, often placed on festive, danceable or romantic tracks. After a first album, Neha The Rockstar in 2008, and contributions as a choir or supporting vocalist for cinema, Neha Kakkar gains visibility with 'Second Hand Jawaani' in 2012, then follows with 'Sunny Sunny' and 'London Thumakda' in 2014. The rest of her career is in a repertoire closely tied to soundtracks and popular singles, between originals, covers and recreations, with songs like 'Mile Ho Tum' and 'Kala Chashma' in 2016, 'Badri Ki Dulhania' in 2017, followed by 'Dilbar', 'Aankh Maarey', 'Coca Cola' or 'O Saki Saki'. Neha Kakkar has also collaborated repeatedly with Tony Kakkar, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Tanishk Bagchi, Pritam, Amit Trivedi or Vishal-Shekhar, while holding a regular place on Indian television as a judge on musical competitions, notably Indian Idol.
