Mungo's Hi Fi
Based in Glasgow, Mungo's Hi Fi has been part of the Jamaican sound system tradition since 2000, working in production, recording and dissemination with a focus on reggae and dub. The core of the collective formed around Tom Tattersall and Doug Paine, later joined by Craig Macleod in 2002 and Jerome Joly in 2006. Mungo's Hi Fi crafts a sound built on deep bass, roots rhythms, pronounced dub versions and a regular openness to rub-a-dub and dancehall, collaborating with singers and MCs from various reggae scenes. Their discography includes Sound System Champions (2009), Forward Ever (2011), Serious Time and Serious Dubs (2014), Antidote (2021) and Past and Present (2023), alongside shared projects with Brother Culture, Kenny Knots, Charlie P, YT and Eva Lazarus. Associated with the Scotch Bonnet Records label, Mungo's Hi Fi has operated from the start at the intersection of British sound system culture, studio production and vinyl formats, maintaining steady activity both on stage and in the studio.
