Gentleman's Dub Club
Formed in Leeds in 2006, Gentleman's Dub Club belongs to a British scene where dub interacts with reggae, ska, 2‑tone and more electronic textures close to dubstep and dubtronica. The outfit, conceived as a collective with a vocalist, brass, keys, bass, guitar, drums and percussion, develops a broad, direct sound built on heavy basslines, syncopated rhythms and songwriting that alternates melodic choruses, sound‑system accents and live‑band energy. After early releases—Members Only EP (2009) and Open Your Eyes EP (2012)—Gentleman's Dub Club issued the album FOURtyFOUR in 2013 on Ranking Records, followed by The Big Smoke (2015), Dubtopia (2017), Lost in Space (2019) and Down to Earth (2021), this time on Easy Star Records. Over the years the band has appeared at British and European festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, Outlook and the Télérama Dub Festival, and has shared bills with artists from reggae, hip‑hop and urban music including The Wailers, Roots Manuva and The Streets.
