Mourning Beloveth
Formed in 1992 in Ireland, Mourning Beloveth operates in a slow, massive death-doom, built on long songs, melodic guitars and an alternation between male clean singing and growled vocals. The band took shape in the 1990s with an untitled first demo in 1996, followed by Autumnal Fires in 1998, before establishing itself more firmly on the European doom scene in the early 2000s. Mourning Beloveth released Dust in 2001, followed by The Sullen Sulcus in 2002, an album that showcases an elongated, dark and melancholic writing at the crossroads of the heaviest death metal and a more melodic funeral-doom. After several tours in Ireland, the band also shared the bill with Cathedral, Cradle of Filth, Morgion, and The Prophecy, and tours in Europe as well as the United States. The next chapters of its career include A Murderous Circus in 2005, A Disease for the Ages in 2008, Formless in 2013, and Rust & Bone in 2016. Over the years, Mourning Beloveth has maintained a sober and dense approach, driven by a five-musician lineup where contrasts between heaviness, slowness and expressive guitar lines remain at the heart of its identity.
