Marlene
Under the name Marlene, Marlene Louise Strand has been developing music that sits between pop and contemporary R&B since the early 2010s. Born in 1986 in the Gothenburg area and raised in Huskvarna, the Swedish singer-songwriter began piano as a child before launching her solo project with the single "Bon Voyage" in 2013. She followed that with the EP "Indian Summer" in 2014, where her melodic songwriting and taste for pop productions with gentle contours took shape, and then with "Sweet" in 2017. Her career also includes collaborations, notably "Love You Anyway" with Ji Nilsson and a guest appearance on Silvana Imam’s "För Evigt." In 2019 Marlene opened another facet of her work by forming the duo Pure Shores with Ji Nilsson, releasing the singles "Rushing" and "You Don’t Wanna Know," followed by "Like A Fool" in 2020. Between solo format and duo project, Marlene is part of a Nordic pop scene attentive to airy textures, crisp choruses and an interpretation close to modern R&B.
