Marina Satti

Born in Athens in 1986 to a Sudanese-Cretan family and raised in Crete, Marina Satti has forged a path between Mediterranean traditions and contemporary urban culture. Trained in piano and classical singing, then jazz at the Athens Conservatory before studying composition and arranging at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Satti has developed a musical language where regional Greek music, Balkan influences, Middle Eastern rhythms, pop, R&B, and electronic elements intersect. Back in Athens, she drew attention with the singles “Prosopa” (2012) and “Ena Kalokairi” (2014), and especially “Koupes” (2016) and “Mantissa” (2017), which spotlight polyphonic vocal work and a strong grounding in the Greek language. In parallel, she founded the female vocal ensemble Fonés and the choir Chóres, collective projects that extend her exploration of choral practice and reimagined traditional repertoire. Her debut full-length album, “YENNA,” was released in 2022 and brings together this hybrid aesthetic, ranging from structured pop songs to pieces closer to vocal music. In 2024, Marina Satti represents Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest with the track “Zari,” taking this blend of folklore, electronic pulses, and accessible melodic writing onto a European stage.
