Mama's Jasje

Founded in 1989 in Flanders around Peter Vanlaet, Mama's Jasje belongs to the Belgian Dutch-speaking pop scene, with a repertoire centered on songs, accessible melodies and arrangements that mix light pop-rock and ballads. The group emerged in the early 1990s with Zo ver weg, then followed with titles such as Doe het licht maar uit, Zonder verhaal, Wunderbar or Als de dag van toen, which firmly established Mama's Jasje in the Flemish musical landscape. The band’s trajectory was initially built around Vanlaet, notably with guitarist Gunter Van Campenhout for a long period, then more briefly Jan Schepens in the early 2010s. In its discography, Mama's Jasje alternates studio albums and cover projects, with Paradijs op aarde (1991), Letters en lawaai (1992), Testament van een jaargetijde (1993), Hommages (1997), Hommages II (1998), Popmodel (2000), Zwart op wit (2003), Hommages III (2007), Morgen zal het anders zijn (2009), Nieuwe jas (2018), 30 jaar Mama's jasje - De jaren van verstand (2020), Spiegel (2021), puis Het beste moet nog komen (2023). Present on Flemish stages for more than three decades, Mama's Jasje develops a Dutch-language pop writing anchored in direct choruses, sentimental themes and a radio-friendly song format.
