Mama Ladilla

Formed in Madrid in 1994 around Juan Abarca, Mamá Ladilla sits in a register where satirical rock, punk rock, heavy metal and progressive detours cross, with Spanish texts marked by the absurd, wordplay and a venomous streak. First spotted in Madrid’s alternative circuit thanks to the demo Directamente a la basura, the trio released Arzobispofobia in 1996, then followed with Naces, creces, te jodes y mueres in 1998, Requesound in 1999, Power de mí in 2001 and Analfabada in 2002, a series of records that refine a nervous, dense and technical sound without losing the effectiveness of the rock format. After the reissue of its first demo in 2004, Mamá Ladilla continues with Autorretrete in 2005 and Jamón beibe in 2010, while maintaining regular live activity in Spain. The band's history also includes several lineup changes, with Juan Abarca remaining the center of the project, before the arrival of Sergio González on bass in 2013 and Abel del Fresno on drums in 2014. This lineup records Bilis in 2014, Coprofonía in 2015, the live Un bis y a la cama in 2017, then Quién pudriera in 2018 and Exhuma y sigue in 2021. Mamá Ladilla continues to occupy a singular place on Spain's rock scenes, between instrumental precision, punk energy and black humor.
