Leæther Strip

A project led by Danish musician Claus Larsen, Leæther Strip has been part of the EBM and dark electro movement since the late 1980s, situated at the crossroads of industrial, dark synthpop and more ambient sounds. Leæther Strip’s early albums, including The Pleasure of Penetration (1990) and Solitary Confinement (1992), helped establish the project on the European electronic scene with direct rhythms, repetitive basslines and heavily processed vocals addressing introspective and social themes. With Serenade for the Dead (1994), Claus Larsen explored a more atmospheric, cinematic register, marking a significant shift in Leæther Strip’s trajectory. After a period of withdrawal, the 2005 return with After the Devastation revived a steady recording output, followed by a sustained flow of albums, EPs and digital releases. On stage, Leæther Strip often appears in a stripped-down formation centered on Larsen, suited to clubs and festivals oriented toward industrial and gothic music, and maintains close ties to that community through occasional collaborations and numerous remixes within the international EBM sphere.
