Les Garçons Bouchers

Formed in the Paris region in 1986 around François Hadji-Lazaro, Les Garçons Bouchers align themselves with French alternative rock, mixing punk rock, ska, French rock and chanson, often tinged with musette. The band arose in the wake of the 1980s indie scene and initially developed a direct and abrasive formula, before broadening its sound with brass and arrangements that bring Les Garçons Bouchers closer to a tense, dance‑hall atmosphere. Their career has been tied to the label Boucherie Productions, founded by François Hadji-Lazaro, and to a steady wandering between punk circuits, militant festivals and community venues. After a first self‑titled album in 1987, Les Garçons Bouchers released Tome II in 1988, On a mal vieilli... in 1990, Vacarmélite or la nonne bruyante in 1992 and Écoute, petit frère! in 1995. The arrival of Pierrot Sapu as vocalist at the end of the 1980s accompanied an evolution of the group, without breaking with its taste for front‑line choruses, black humor and social satire. Separated in 1997, Les Garçons Bouchers remain associated with this generation that circulated punk in French beyond the dominant frameworks. After François Hadji-Lazaro’s death in 2023, former members returned to the stage on a tribute tour.
