Lauren Ruth Ward

Based in Los Angeles, American singer and guitarist Lauren Ruth Ward develops a retro-tinged rock that blends folk, pop and psychedelic influences. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, she began by performing in small local venues before moving to California in the mid-2010s, a period when her first songs circulated online and on the independent scene. Her songwriting relies on classic rock structures, a taste for straightforward choruses and a strong vocal presence, with arrangements that draw as much from 1970s rock as from the contemporary alternative scene. In 2018 she released the album Well, Hell, which brings together this aesthetic across electric ballads, mid‑tempo tracks and more abrasive numbers, and she followed it with EPs, singles and live sessions. Very active in concert, Lauren Ruth Ward performs with a tight band in clubs and festivals and simultaneously records a series of covers that revisit folk, rock and pop standards, extending a universe centered on vocal performance and group energy.
