Luke Solomon

Born in London, Luke Solomon has, since the early 1990s, built a career that sits between British house, disco, leftfield electronica and club culture. A DJ, producer and label head, he emerged on the London scene before co-founding Classic Music Company with Derrick Carter in 1994 — a label that championed a supple, soulful house focused on the dancefloor at the crossroads of Chicago and UK scenes. Concurrently, Solomon has led several projects, notably the duo Freaks with Justin Harris, where his writing opened up to more offbeat forms blending house, punk-funk, electro and pop. His output moves between club-oriented maxis, vocal collaborations and artistic direction, with a constant attention to groove, basslines, voices and arrangements that retain a degree of grit. Present in both historic house circuits and more hybrid electronic contexts, Luke Solomon evolves his music with a balance of rhythmic effectiveness, attention to detail and formats that extend beyond a strict club function.
