Katie Malco

Born in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, and raised as a child in Northampton, England, Katie Malco develops writing anchored in indie rock and folk rock, carried by a restrained voice and songs with sober arrangements, between acoustic guitar, discreet electric guitar and melodic tension. Katie Malco began releasing in the early 2010s with the Four Goodbyes EP in 2010, then Katie Malco and the Slow Parade in 2011 and Tearing Ventricles in 2013, releases that establish a direct, intimate and unembellished songwriting format. After several years on the road, she signed with the American label 6131 Records and released her debut album Failures in 2020, a record that extends this introspective vein with a more assertive writing and production located between indie rock, folk and light slowcore. Katie Malco has also shared the bill or toured with artists such as Julien Baker, Alvvays, Jenny Lewis, Bob Mould, Fenne Lily or Laura Stevenson, which places her in an Anglo-American indie scene attentive to pared-down forms and personal narratives. In 2022, she revisited this repertoire with the EP Failures Revisited, then returned in 2024 with the singles Fatal Attraction, with Laura Stevenson, and Babette, with SOAK.
